Mobilization of convicts, persons with a criminal record, suspects and accused persons
During the last few months, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted many laws in the context of mobilization. One of the main is the Law of Ukraine “On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine regarding certain issues of military service, mobilization, and military registration”, which will enter into force on May 18, 2024. However, these are not all changes in the context of mobilization, because a number of other laws were also adopted. In particular, on May 8, 2024, a law was adopted, which provides for the introduction of the institution of conditional early release of persons from serving a sentence for their direct participation in the defense of the country, the protection of its independence and territorial integrity. With this in mind, we offer an overview of the issue of the possible mobilization of convicts, persons with a criminal record, suspects and accused persons.
