Regarding the Draft Labour Code
Dear Sirs,
We avail ourselves of this opportunity to express to you assurances of our highest consideration and feel it appropriate to inform you on the state of consideration of the Draft Labour Code in the Verkhovna Rada, and outline the major changes it introduces in the labour legislation of Ukraine.
Though the Draft Labour Code was included into the agenda of the tenth session of the Verkhovna Rada sixth convocation (February 2012 – July 2012), in view of contradictory information received from the press service of Verkhovna Rada it is complicated to forese”, “On Vacations”, “On the Procedure for Settling Collective Labour Disputes (Conflicts)”. Among the normative acts which shall continue its effectiveness are the Laws of Ukraine “On Trade Unions, Their Rights and Guarantees for Activity”, “On Labour Safety” and others.
We are to note that there is no unanimous approach as to the Draft LC at the present day, debates take place even among its developers. The Draft LC is full of contradictions, does not correspond to interests both of employees and employers. That is why it requires significant improvement.
By this letter we start the series of newsletters where we will analyse changes to be introduced into labour legislation of Ukraine in connection to anticipated Labour Code enacting.
