Basic military service: The conscription process and its impact on employers
Since May 18, 2024, the compulsory military service (which has not been conducted since October 29, 2022) has been replaced with the Basic Military Service (BMS).
While the start date for BMS conscription is yet to be determined, the law provides for the possibility of BMS during martial law, meaning the call-up could begin at any time.
The Cabinet of Ministers will define the timing and the number of people to be drafted.
In this article, we explore the key features of BMS and analyze what the conscription of employees under BMS could mean for employers.
