Students and employers, get ready: Basic general military training is about to start
Basic general military training has started for students this academic year as part of recent mobilization reforms in Ukraine.
This training represents the state’s attempt to systematically address the need to prepare young people to fulfill their constitutional duty to defend the homeland by integrating basic military knowledge and skills into the higher education system.
At the same time, the implementation of basic general military training is already facing a number of serious challenges at this initial stage — from the absence of clear legal definitions, gaps in the regulatory framework, and procedural inconsistencies to the evident organizational unpreparedness of higher education institutions to fully implement the program.
